A modified “Katie” and 4 wheel coach on Hambleden Valley Railway. The loco is kit-built with many enhancements; the coach is one half of an Accucraft IoM bogie coach, mounted on new homemade brass chassis with many additional details. The layout is booked to appear at the Warley Show at the NEC on 26th/27th November. Photo: Steve Howard.

Hi Steve I was very impressed with your layout at Warley and the way you were operating it. I was particularly taken with the 2.4ghz radio operation of your live steam locos. You also took time to talk to me and other interested parties. At your suggestion I have searched on line for the radio transmiters you were using but I have only found one manufacturer but they do not look anything like the ones you were using.
Could you please give me the name of your supplier.
Thank you,
John Gowers
Hello John,
Thanks for your comment. I’ll alert Steve to your query.
Best wishes,
Richard Huss – IT Officer
I use the DSM2 mini transmitter from lococontrol – http://www.lococontrol.co.uk/
Mine looks slightly different from the picture as I do not have the additional auxiliary function buttons and I have turned the direction switch through 90 deg to operate left/right rather than up/down.
Dave Pritchard of lococontol will very helpfully bespoke the transmitter to your needs for a small additional cost.
Please note that all my locos are fitted with an SSP slomo device http://smallsteamperformance.com.au/ that does more for their controlability than the transmitter does.
